Body

Metal grave monuments from Finnish cemeteries and selections from the metal objects of churches and parishes, compiled into one exhibition. The exhibition is curated by master blacksmith Jouko Nieminen and master blacksmith-sculptor Antti Nieminen. Exhibition in the Craft Museum of Finland is open 10.1.‒12.4.2026.

The metal art found in Finnish churches and cemeteries reflects a multi-layered cultural history. The Eternal Metal exhibition presents the richness of gravestone crosses from different parts of the country in photographs. It includes both historical crosses and modern sculptures. The exhibition also provides a glimpse into the manufacturing and repair processes of church objects, with a display of decommissioned church objects, a roof cross, and a reconstructed silversmith's workstation.
