The Craft Museum of Finland is a specialized museum for handicraft covering entire Finland. The museum covers all techniques of handicraft, from house building to lace making and from forging to the design of ornaments. The National Costume Center of Finland and The Conservation Center are part of the museum.

As a specialized museum, the maintenance comes from the City of Jyväskylä but also from the Ministry of Education and Culture because of museum’s national status.

The Craft Museum of Finland is an active partner and champion of the value of handicraft, as well as maintainer and interpreter of it. 

Vision

We highlight current craft phenomena and craft workers, strengthen the craft and art experience of individuals and communities. We support the craft industry and influence in the industry in Finland. We are proud of our role as a national specialized museum of craft history, knowledge and skills.

The Craft Museum of Finland

The Museum is part of City of Jyväskylä organization. So the maintenance comes from the City of Jyväskylä but also from the Ministry of Education and Culture because of museum’s national status.

Museum employs 15 permanent employees and few part time employees and trainees during the year.
