June 18th – September 6th, 2020 in the Gallery
Climate change is shaping our environment at great speed and at the same time is defining the future of world in which we live. Our youth could not alter the course of climate change when it was still possible, and this brings up important questions: Do we have the right to feel scared, angry or hope? Who is responsible for the future? What can we demand from others as well as from ourselves? What kind of future will our generation have?
Known for her colourful animal and plant themed knits, textile artist Sirkka Könönen’s (1947-2018) production is on display in the Craft Museum of Finland’s Lobby Gallery 21.12.2019-1.3.2020, in The Colourer of the World – Textile Artist Sirkka Könönen exhibition. Her life was comprehensive as a textile artist, handicraft entrepreneur, and artist, and its abundance is brought out when we step into Sirkka’s colourful, fairy tale world.
