Several temporary exhibitions are on display at the same time, where different handicraft techniques, their masters and art craft are presented, as well as, of course, the Finnish national costume tradition. Handicraft is a broad concept that covers both soft and hard materials, traditional techniques as well as new innovations. Come and be inspired!

Get to know A Joyrney in Time exhibition and travel trough 2000 years of crafts s in the museum's lecture hall, or try your hand at the crafts in the museum's open workshop. In the workshop space on the second floor of the museum, children and adults can try their hand at making their own souvenirs.

The museum's rich year of events offers guided tours, artisan meetings, and workshops for all age groups. 

The museum shop has products by Finnish crafts people for big or small needs.

Situated on the pedestrian street at the hearth of Jyväskylä, the Craft Museum of Finland is easily accessible museum, which unobtrusive façade hides experiences for all senses and for all ages. The national specialized museum, built on three floors, tells the story of Finnish crafts as part of the weave of history. Handicraft has lived along with Finland both in everyday life and in celebration and it plays a significant role even in our current digital era.

    The National Costume Center of Finland

    The National Costume Center of Finland displays an researches national costumes and other traditional clothing of Finland. The center is responsible for preserving the national costume culture of the Finnish-speaking Finland. 

    The center conducts research and provides education and guidance on the subject. They organizes exhibitions and events. The National Costume Center of Finland is located in the Craft Museum of Finland premises in Jyväskylä.

    The National Costume Center of Finland displays national costumes and other traditional clothing of Finland. The permanent exhibition of the Museum Dressed with Pride displays Finnish national costumes. In the other permanent exhibition, Craft - A Touch of Life you can find some ancient costumes, but also the clothing heritage of our national minorities. 

    Temporary exhibition are in museum's 2nd floor, Kuja exhibition area. These change 2-3 times a year.

    The Conservation Center

    The Conservation Center serves private clients, museums and various organisations alike. The conservators are glad to give advice and guidance on the care and preservation of objects.

    The Conservation Center is a national institution, specializing in the conservation of old and new precious textile artefacts as well as providing advice and guidance concerning conservation and preservation. 

    Conservation Center also gives consultancy in the field of conservation, lectures and courses on conservation and design of display structures and storage facilities for textiles.
