The Craft Museum of Finland is located right in the city center of Jyväskylä along Kävelykatu, next to Kirkkopuisto. Museum is easily accessible by foot from the train and bus station. There are several parking garages nearby. See more about arriving to Jyväskylä below.

By train

You can reach Jyväskylä by train from Helsinki in less than 3,5 hours, and from Tampere in 1,5 hours.

If you fly to Helsinki, you can get on the Jyväskylä train connecting easily directly from the airport with just one change of trains. By train, you can also travel to Hankasalmi, Petäjävesi, Keuruu or Jämsä, for example.

By car

It is easy to come to the Jyväskylä region by car. For example, the distance from the Helsinki metropolitan area is not long and it is easy to drive on the E75 via Lahti or the E12 via Tampere and Jämsä. If you want to enjoy spectacular sceneries during your drive, it is a good idea to select the somewhat slower route from Lahti via Pulkkilanharju. The distances are short also if you come from Lappeenranta or from Turku.

If you drive your own or a rental car, please check the weather forecasts and the pay attention to the prevailing conditions.

Parking and the parking disc
In many places around Jyväskylä, parking is subject to charges. Please check the parking fee in your parking area. There are several parking halls nearby as well as some street parking areas. Information on parking on the streets in the city centre in the Jyväs-Parkki traffic map (in Finnish).

Please remember to put your parking slip on the dashboard inside your car when parking. This way the slip will be easily visible from outside the car. The paid parking time shown on the slip indicates the remaining parking time and you can use the slip anywhere within the same parking zone. Please check the payment policies in your parking area.

Parking disc is used on some parking areas.  The use of the disc is indicated with traffic signs. Please remember to put your parking disc on the dashboard inside your car when parking. This way, the whole disc will be easily visible from the outside of the car and fills the legal requirements set for the parking disc.

Air connections

Finnair has flights from Helsinki to Jyväskylä, so you can also continue your trip to Jyväskylä by air. The flight takes less than an hour. Jyväskylä airport is located in Tikkakoski, and you can travel the 23 kilometres to the Jyväskylä city centre either with the buses travelling via the airport or by taxi.
